My problem was I couldn’t prioritize and felt like I had to please everyone. I love my work, even client work, but I want to do it all better instead of scrambling all the time. There’s being a workaholic, and there’s being busy all the time because you’re essentially putting out fires. I do not want that as a lifestyle.
My big Aha moment was the QTAs [questions to answer]. Instead of launching an open-ended search online, QTAs made me think about the process intimately, and try to anticipate steps. The more I asked, the more questions I thought of that were relevant.
Oh, and one more: that it’s OK to need external motivation. What a relief!
